A Message from the President January 2026

January is Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Month (HTPM), a national observance designed to raise awareness and educate the public about the role it can play in preventing and responding to human trafficking. Although we all want to see an end to human trafficking, prevention cannot be realized until we are aware of the problem.

The Campaign Against Human Trafficking – Southshore is committed to increasing awareness of human trafficking, how to recognize it, and how to report it while staying safe.

CAHT’s commitment to supporting victims, celebrating survivors, disrupting demand, and ending human trafficking will require all of us to educate ourselves and work together to protect our kids and prevent the tragedy of falling victim to traffickers.

Throughout the year, we will continue to invite all of you to come together and participate in efforts to stop human trafficking. There are many ways to help, and each of us has a unique skill set that will contribute to the overall effort.

  • Volunteering can be very rewarding, and there are many volunteer roles to meet everyone’s interests and skill sets.
  • Donating, whether on a one-time or monthly basis, will support our efforts and increase our ability to reach out to our communities.
  • Sharing your human trafficking learning experiences with your friends will assist in outreach.
  • Inviting your friends and family to check out the website, attend meetings, or research the extent of the problem online.
  • Call CAHT to share any ideas for meetings, fundraisers, or learning experiences.
